Fast Start to Roboshield
WHAT IS Roboshield?
RoboShield is multi-purpose robot shield for Arduino Based Robot projects. Produced for Robot Makers who want to use Arduino simply. It is basic Robot Shield for multi-purpose robots.
Where it Can be Used?
Basic Robots, Minisumo & Line Following Robots
Light Chasing Robots (With Built-in Light Sensors)
Infrared Remote & Bluetooth Controlled Projects
- Vin: 6V – 12V (Voltage directly goes to Arduino Board’s Vin Pin)
- Current at Idle: 10ma (All Board)
- Motor Currents: Continous 0.6 Ampere x2, Bursts 1 Ampere x2.
- Built-in Photocell sensors (LDR).
- Built-in easy attach sensor terminals.
- Just 68mm x 53mm x 10mm sized.
- Suitable for Arduino Uno & Leonardo boards.
- Board weight is 34 grams.
If you want to make a robot with Arduino Uno, that shield must be your choice.
While using Roboshield…
You will NOT need extra switch, It’s Built-in.
You will NOT need crimp female pins with ready made A3,A4,A5 screw terminals.
You will NOT need extra indicators, you can use one spare led and one buzzer.
For very basic robot projects you will NOT need any extra sensor with built-in LDR photocell sensors.
For remote controlling you can DIRECTLY control with that 40 KHZ IR detector.
Use for any purpose. When something sensed give sound or use it for warning sounds.. Connected to A2 pin.
Switch & Reset Button
Yes. It is very basic thing but every robot needs one switch. At Roboshield, we integrated it to directly to our board. And also board has one reset button for Arduino.
RoboSheild has one IR detector (Panasonic PNA4613M or Vishay 4838). It can be used with TV remotes for controlling.
Motor Controller & Compatibility
We chose generic, motor driver IC (L293D) for Roboshield. You can control lots of different sized dc motors, and if you burn any chip, you can swap quickly. (Normally it does not burn. But you know sometimes bad things can happen).
And for Compatibility issue. That shield is pin to pin compatible with Sparkfun Ardumoto driver. Yes, you can use our shield with the same program, plus that extra features and easiness.
Sensor Inputs & Outputs
Inputs are little different at Roboshied. The Arduino pin has screw terminals. With that terminals, you can easily attach your sensors like MZ80, MR45 Obstacle sensors. Or you can attach any sensor which needs 5V, GND and Signal pin. Besides screw terminals, you can attach QTR8 line sensors with ready made male header pins. Lastly, D9 and D10 pins also made with -,+, S pattern male headers. That pins can be used for attaching servo motors too.
Roboshield contains 4 motor direction leds (2 Right, 2 Left), 1 output Led (attached to D1). We connected that Red Led to D1 (Arduino TX Pin) you can easily see if Arduino is programmed at that time or not.
Easy Bluetooth Connectivity
For instance, you decided to make Bluetooth controlled robot like that model at left. You can use our Roboshield for making fast connections. Motor control side is ready, and HC06 socket is available. Just attach your Bluetooth module and program (We have ready-made programs for quick starting)
