Iowa's AEAs provide literacy specialists to all of Iowa’s 367 schools. Currently 45.3 AEA literacy specialists serve 7,000 teachers or a teacher-literacy consultant ratio of 154:1. The proof points above demonstrate the impact of the enhanced focus on ensuring all students are skilled readers. Fully funding the AEAs through the formula established by the Iowa legislature honors the state's commitment to Iowa’s most vulnerable children and ensures students of all abilities have the opportunity to reach their potential.
