48 hours grading turnaround times & other lean education stories
Vincent Wiegel, Co-chair of Lean Research Group
HAN University of applied Sciences
Drawing on a wide range of experiments with teaching in a lean way, developing curricula in a Lean way, defining faculty strategy in a Lean way we provide examples and inspiration for Lean practitioners in HE. It shows how to effectively work together across primary process and support processes.
During the second part of the workshop participants will work on their own ideas to involve academics and researchers to apply Lean to the primary processes of education.
Main take aways are insights into
- How can Lean be applied to the primary process of education?
- How do I as a lean practitioner relate to academics in ways that help me to engage them in our Lean efforts?
This workshop takes around 1,5 hours. Due to the interactives part it can have a maximum of 16 participants who should have an active interest in the topic.
Lean HE is ultimately about the student, about learning & teaching. Bringing Lean to the primary processes of education has proven challenging. Now that the need is clear the next step is to illustrate how this can be done. A showcase story is how we provide students their grades within 48 hours (and often less than 20 hours!). This is good for students, for learning and for the lecturers.
