In a perfect world, vacation would always mean jetting off to a tropical paradise, but sometimes, vacation is simply staying at home – commonly known as a “staycation”. Even though you’re technically on holiday, it can be tough to completely go into vacation mode when you’re at home.
Here are some tips to maximize your "staycation" so you feel as refreshed as you would on a Caribbean island (almost):
Treat yourself to the gift of sleep. Enjoy these days with no alarm or succumb to the 2:30 afternoon slump nap. This is the perfect time to catch up on some much-needed sleep and let your body reset.
PLAN SOMETHING FUN
Have you been dying to try that new spin class at the gym? Or see the new Jennifer Lawrence film? This is the time to do it! No matter how big or small, plan something fun that you’ve been wanting to try but keep postponing.
AVOID WORK EMAIL
You deserve a couple days free from any work-related stress. If completely disconnecting isn’t an option for you, try to minimize your time or only check back in towards the end your vacation.
HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DO IT
Instead of spending your well-deserved vacation scrubbing toilets or repainting the deck, have someone else do it. You can hire help for the day or add some extra duties to your kids’ chore list.
INDULGE IN YUMMY FOOD
Whether it’s finally trying that new sushi place downtown, attempting a recipe from a Tasty video, or simply pigging out on your favorite snack, this is the perfect time to eat to your hearts’ delight. After all, calories don’t count on vacation!
