With this course, we were introduced to concepts of educational technoloy, reinforcing the role that Ed Tech plays in digital learning. For me, this also included an introduction to Growth Mindset.
In the early planning stages of my innovation plan, I discussed incorporating Growth Mindset concepts into professional learning for faculty.

Creating ePortfolios was a bit intimidating, but it allowed each of us to flex our creative muscles, and take ownership of our learning. The autonomy offered to us through this course helped to make significant learning connections ensuring authentic learning.

Exploring Information Communication Technology (ICT) through the lens of education allowed us to consider innovative digital strategies in new ways, such the use technology in open pedagogies and open resources for learning.

Resources for Digital Learning
This course reinforced the need for a plan for maintenance and upgrading not only the technology used in our courses, but also in the open resources that are being used. I became more aware through this course of the need for learners in higher education settings to pay for the use of open resources, so that those resources can be maintained. But another often overlooked resource includes our human capital... our educators. We have maintained a plan for continued development of full-time faculty, but the work force has shifted so that now more than 50% of our faculty are part-time educators. As our most important resource, our faculty need professional learning opportunities and support, and that must be extended to our part-time instructors.

Focusing on the vulnerability of our
learners because of the exponential growth of digital technologies, and of course social media, we looked at how we can first ensure that our learners are safe, and secondly, how we can ensure that our learners are becoming responsible digital citizens. I think one of the most impactful things of this course was Monica Leweinsky's TED Talk. This really detailed how much technology and social media have changed how we get information. Here's a quick reflection on how technology has impacted our reality.

Synthesising Digital Learning and Leadership
Opportunities to reflect on learning
are critical to make the
connections that help learners see what they have accomplished, but also help educators ensure that outcomes are being met. Reviewing my journey through the DLL program, I feel like I have accomplished so much! Looking at how our faculty are responding to professional learning experiences, I know that we are on the
right track!
