Richard Lawrence shot two bullets aimed at Jackson, but misfired. Lawrence was later apprehended and declared insane and institutionalized.

President Garfield was four months into his four year term when Charles J. Guiteau shot him. He went through 11 weeks of treatment, but died on September 19, 1881.

The 25th president of the United States was visiting the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, N.Y., when he was shot twice by Leon Czolgosz. McKinley died on September 14, 1901. Because this was the third presidential assassination, the Secret Service was established to protect U.S. presidents.
While about to give a speech in Milwaukee, Roosevelt was shot by John F. Schrank. During the speech, he said "It takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose". Roosevelt survived the attack and the bullet stayed in his body until his death in 1919.

Before being sworn into office, Roosevelt was shot at 5 times by Giuseppe Zang. Zang missed Roosevelt, but wounded four and killed Chicago Mayor Anton Cermak.

Oscar Collazo and Griselio Torresola targeted Truman in a house in Washington. The attempt resulted in the death of a White House police officer and Torresola. Collazo was sentenced to life in prison and Truman was unharmed.
