This is a picture of a wolf that died in Winscoson.
Wolves are treated very poorly. People hunt them and hurt them for no reason at all.
According to humane society “ Once given management authority over wolves, the states of Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Wisconsin, and Wyoming enacted “emergency” rules and laws to authorize the trophy hunting of them, with unsporting and cruel methods such as the use of painful steel-jawed leghold traps, strangling neck snares, archery, and—in Wisconsin— even packs of trailing hounds”
These incent animals are being hunted and hurt for no reason except for some people it’s fun because of this the number of wolves is dropping rapidly.
According to humane society “ Wisconsin adopted a reckless management plan to allow the reduction of its wolf numbers from approximately 800 down to 350—based upon no science. “
How misunderstood are wolves?
Wolves are very misunderstood animals if someone sees a wolf they run in fear or maybe even animal control. In my opinion, unless the wolf is threating you, you should just walk away calmly.
According to Wolf Safety” you need to stay calm and do not run, stand tall and make yourself look larger, slowly back away and maintain eye contact, keep dogs on leash, and always hike/camp in a group and never alone”.
Wolves are also blamed for things they didn’t even do for example people sometimes blame wolves for their livestock being hunted.
According to the nature mapping program “ The gray wolf used to range throughout the U. S. Due to its predatory nature, the gray wolf was seen as a threat to cattle, so by the 1930s many wolves were killed as part of a government extermination program aimed at protecting livestock.”
The wolves habits are being destroyed and are used to build buildings because of this many packs of wolves don’t have anywhere to go.
According to Nature-mapping program “ Gray wolves are one of the most wide-ranging land animals. They occupy a wide variety of habitats, from arctic tundra to forest, prairie, and arid landscapes. However, due to habitat destruction and other barriers to population growth, gray wolf populations are now found only in a few areas of Canada and the following portions of the United States: Alaska, Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
”There are many places for wolves to live, but because it’s all being down there aren't many places for the wolves to live anymore.
How We Can Help
This is at the W.O.L.F =
Wolves Offered Life and Friendship, sanctuary
There are many things we can do for the gray wolves
.According to defeners.org
“Adopt a gray wolf
Speak up for wildlife
These things can help the wolves so much and there are even simpler things you can do such as just If you see a hurt wolf called a vet or a care center if you see a lost baby wolf call a vet, if you see someone mistreating/hurting a wolf stop them, or if you want to do just a little more follow organizations that help them or you could even do fundraisers for them.
