Documentary ''Our Billy Eliot'' talks about 13- year old boy Robert Žmirić who is a ballet dancer. He and one older boy are only male dancers in Ballet studio Split.
I think that this film is warning us about the problem of gender discrimination. Many people still think that ballet is not for boys. Robert doesn't care for those opinions. In the film, he said that he is not embarrassed by his hobby and that he is honest with his friends about what he does.
In my opinion, everyone has a right to do something that interests him or her no matter the prejudices.
To me, it is completely normal that boys dance ballet and that girls play football. In my school, several girls can play football very good, and the most famous football player is a girl from 7th grade, Patricija.
Prejudices about male and female roles were recently broken in our school by a group of boys from 8th grade. On our Christmas play, they have danced a dance for which they have also made choreography by themselves. Some people in school thought that it is strange because it were always girls who danced on school performances.
I liked the film Our Billy Eliot a lot because of the message that it is not important if you are a boy or a girl to be dancing or do anything else that interests you.
