2016 Green Party Candidate: Jill Stein
The Green Party supports the principles of green politics such as social justice, environmentalism and nonviolence. They believe the above issues are a foundation for world peace.
- Guaranteeing all people their economic rights by creating anti-poverty programs and establishing the right to a living wage
- Allowing women to have access to contraceptive and reproductive care and lift the "morning-after" ban the Obama Administration put into place
- Expand women's rights by passing the Equal Rights Amendment and protect the LGBT+ community

- Treating substance abuse as a health problem and removing nonviolent drug offenders from prison, giving them pre and post-release support
Jill Stein was a practicing physician when
she began to support a healthy environment and combating environmental justice and racism. Stein has helped lead initiatives to strengthen local green economies and financial reform. She entered electoral politics in 2002 when she ran for Governor of Massachusetts against Mitt Romney where she was credited for being the best informed and most credible. In 2012, Stein was the Green Party's presidential candidate from which she holds the current record for most votes received by a woman.
