Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product?
The method I used to find out what my audience wanted in my design, content and structure of my magazine. I first did some research of current Hip-Hop magazines and looked their codes and conventions and how they attract large audiences in a variety of ways. I then created a questionnaire which involved what people wanted to see in my magazine. After taking into consideration the responses from my questionnaire I created a first draft of my magazine which was then shown to my peers and they gave feedback what needed improving.
The research that took place allowed me to design my magazine by including a specific colour scheme rather than random colours. Another reason my magazine attracted viewers was because of the images that were used this can show that codes and conventions have been followed. On my double page spread the image used covered half of the page. I think that this is effective because viewers will be able to move onto other features such as the text which is beside the image. It also reduces the boredom they may have. Another way I attracted the audience was through the use of content which is familiar to everyone. I did this by adding artists names which are current and popular right now.
My magazine had a big emphasis on gender because the images of my model were close-up. My model was also wearing colours which reflect the male gender along with the accessories. My image was important,as it was of a young artist who is likely to appeal to teenagers and young adults in their twenties. The article for my double page spread was easy for the audience to relate to for both genders. The article was relevant to both genders because it was about an upcoming artist who has shot to fame.
