85,000 children under the age of 5 may have died from acute malnutrition, the US has warned Yemen and other countries that 14 million people are on the brink of famine, 15.9 million people wake up hungry every day because they can't plant simple crops like wheat, it is estimated that this could go up to 20 million people that suffer from famine if people don't start thinking, approximately 17% of the countries population is in famine-like condition and 20% of the population must be affected from famine.
How did the war start
The war started when the Houthi came in and started conquering some parts of Yemen so when they reached to the capital of Saana president Abdurabah Mansur Hadi fled to Saudi Arabia to ask the royal family for help to attack the Houthi, the king agreed and sent an army to Yemen to help him while he stayed in Saudi Arabia, Iran started backing up the Houthi with the former president Saleh and sent troops to help them conquer Yemen, some people say that it is a proxy war between Iran and Saudi Arabia and the battlefield in Yemen, there are also other roots in this war it was when Ali Abdallah Saleh betrayed the Houthi in fighting against the army so they killed the betrayer and Yemen started attacking back, about 1 million people have died.
How did the war start
Why is Yemen so poor
Yemen is poor because of 2 things, one of them is because of the war between Iran and the Houthi versus Saudi Arabia and the people there are lots of bombs so when they try planting more crops they get destroyed, another reason is because of the climate it is very hard to plant it and that extreme weather.
The yearly income was very good but it dropped down, it was because of the bombing that was happening in the war and also because of the hunger.
It is down by 34 %
Why Should We care
We should care about this situation that's happening in Yemen because maybe this war will affect other countries and get them hungry as well, so we need to inform a lot of people about this situation that is happening to stop this from happening
The food wasted by the United States and Europe alone could feed the world 3 times over.
