Walk Two Moons Presentation
This is a short presentation about the novel walk 2 moons, covering chapters 22-33. We wrote down some questions, and included an answer below it
What do you think the 4th message the lunatic sent means?"You can't keep the birds of sadness from flying over your head, but you can keep them from nesting in your hair."
We think that the quote means that you can't stop the thing in life that can make you sad, but you can try get them away, and not be sad.
What happened to Sal's younger sister?
She died when before she was born, sal had been injured while climbing a tree, and her mom had to carry her back to safety. When she carried her though, it had caused the umbilical cord (a cord connected to a baby that supplied air and other important things to help keep the baby alive) to have a lack of air, causing her to suffocate/choked her to death. :(
What did Sal Dream about and why?
Sal had dreamed about her mom climbing a ladder, and looked at her from far away with binoculars, not stopping. This could have represented her mom leaving her, because sal's mom had left without stopping. Like the dream, sal could not stop her from leaving in real life.
What do you think the message " We never know the worth of water until it is dry." Means?
We thought it means that people take stuff for granted, and until that they don't have it, they don't appreciate it and now its worth.
Why does Sal want to get to her mom?
Sal wanted to go to her mom because she wanted to convince her to come back, and wanted to get there by her birthday, suggested by the whispers she hears saying "hurry, hurry" and "rush, rush" making her go even faster, but had been delayed from gram and gramps making stops. Shown in the chapter 23, The Badlands, had made a stop at Mount Rushmore, North Dakota.
Why do people have fears?
People have fears as a way to defend themselves from being hurt, humiliated, or emotionally damaged. In this novel, there is an example of this happening. Phoebe, in the chapter 32, Chicken and Blackberry Kisses, had mentioned her being scared about Mrs. Cadaver being a murder, and burying a body. She had evidence, but only thought up of it to reason and make her have less fears.
What is a conflict sal has?
A conflict that sal has is that her mom left, and she has to deal with lunatic's, murder, Phoebe being a donkey, ect.
What's a conflict phoebe has?
A conflict Phoebe has is that a lunatic has made her mom disappear. Even though this might not be true, it is a conflict in her mind, dealing with fear, an internal conflict.
Some notes I wrote down were the quotes that the lunatic sent, like "You can't keep the birds of sadness from flying over your head, but you can keep them from nesting in your hair." Plus, we also wrote about how Sal's sister, said on page 139, had died. This had possibly from suffocation when sal's mom tried to save her, said soon after this.
