Proclamation of 1763
What it is
To stop Pontiac's rebellion, all westward expansion became off limits. This was meant to limit contact between natives and settlers so they wouldn't fight
The proclamation made illegal to travel and settle lands west of the Appalachian mountains.
Reaction of the Colonists
The colonists were angry and frustrated because they thought they were entitled to the land because some of them also fought in the war as well.
How Could It Be the Point of No Return
this measure was the first to affect all 13 colonies simultaneously, uniting them for the first time in their dislike of the British.
