Ecstasy is the common name for MDMA, a synthetic drug that causes changes in mood and awareness. The drug is typically taken for eliciting feelings of pleasure and its ability to heighten emotional and sensory experiences.
In the 1970’s psychiatrists hailed MDMA as “penicillin for the soul”. They sought to use it to reduce the psychological defences of patients, making them easier to treat. What these psychiatrists didn’t tell their patients was that it hadn’t actually been clinically tested or approved for human use.

Takes the mind to a high and leaves a person in happy mood. It comes in pills and starts working within an hour. After two hours the person can feel the optimum level of relaxation which can lead him to quit other drug habits like marijuana, alcohol and heroin. The mood lightens up as the muscles of the body relax. The person can feel openness to emotional quotient and intense physical pleasure. It takes at least two hours or so to reach the peak.
Marijuana puts a person into the high state of mind. Possibly after two or three drags the mind hits the first level. It makes the mind lighter and many would feel that they can suppress their depression like this. It takes half an hour to reach such a state. The second level is reached generally after four to eight hits. Irregular and sporadic thoughts fill the mind when a person reaches the second level. The last stage is often tagged as getting stoned. This happens after a considerable high dosage of marijuana.
After cannabis, MDMA is the second most used illegal drug in New Zealand and Australia. Of cause for concern is that pills sold as MDMA in New Zealand can contain a cocktail of other substances such as mephedrone, BZP, ketamine and DXM.
