In the book "Diary of A Part Time Indian", Junior and his community struggle to overcome the poverty they were practically born into and destined to keep for life. In Junior's reservation he is an outcast. He is the only one who doesn't give up on striving for a better life. He creates opportunities for himself by going to a new school and meeting new people. Juniors unique sense of hope boosted him out of poor living conditions's and gained him more life experience that would lead to an even brighter future.
