- The First Agricultural Revolution caused humans to farm food rather that hunt and gather
- Before farming existed, communities of humans were small and constantly wandered. Afterwards, cities came to be and communities became a lot bigger and didn’t move everywhere.
- The climate of the area affected what kind of crops grow there
- Yams grew well in Africa, rice grew well in Asia, and wheat grew well in Europe, something that they would benefit them in the long run
- Places with good farming became Hearths of Civilizations
-How art develops in a specific region reflects that regions cultures values and characteristics
-In Europe, Christianity was a big part of everyday life, so a lot of old paintings and stained glass are about Jesus or Mother Mary
-The Chinese really valued nature, so their china and paintings have a lot of rivers, mountains, and trees
Religion affects everyday life, as well as governmental affairs.
Religion is one of the main causes of many conflicts throughout history
This is reflected throughout the Middle Ages, when every person’s life was directly affected by the church.
Muslim-Hindu conflicts in India
Gandhi and Nelson Mandela
Through the use of satyagraha Gandhi and Nelson Mandela were able to lead their peasant class to protest against the harsh government systems in their countries.
Mao in China
Mao saw the protests and revolts occurring across the peasants in China and Mao seeks to use his Marxist ideas to channel the revolts into a strong power.
King Nicholas II and King Louis XIV in Russia and Europe
These leaders, because of their poor leadership, where primary causes to the revolutions in their country.
Civil unrest leads to political change
Throughout history, and all over the world, revolutions have caused drastic changes to be made in several aspects of society.
There were a variety of different kinds of revolutions throughout history.
-Domestication of animals allowed had many advantages
-The big 4: Goat, Sheep, Cows, and Pigs
South Africans struggled due to these principles.
In the Age of Exploration, many European countries colonized the Americas and Africa
Colonization caused countries to expand their wealth and power and spread their ideas across the world.
It’s important to our modern world, because countries throughout Europe colonized almost all of Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Americas.
Motives for colonization
War has a variety of effects on every group involved including changes in economy, power, and social devastation
WWI economically payed off for America and the Allied powers, but at the cost of the destruction of Europe and billions of lives
When the English defeated the French Armada, it secured England as a dominant world power that was stronger than France, who was the #1 military force at the time.
Discrimination causes conflict throughout the world and throughout history
Treating people differently has been such a big problem that wars have been fought over it, such as the American Civil War
Over differences such as gender, race, social class, religion, and age
In current times, there are still conflicts in the middle east pertaining to whether you’re Christian or Muslim
