is Intervention Resource Class?
Why Am I in This Class?
The scores students get on their STAR test in Math and Reading at the beginning of the year are a way for us to know...well, how much you already know!
Those scores give us an idea of how well you can read and do math. They give us a clue whether you are ready to do the work in the classes you need for the year.
What Am I Supposed to Learn?
The activities you will complete in this class are designed to build your basic skills and provide support so you will be able to complete your other classes!
RAMP - Reading and Math Plan
This is a plan that you and your IR teacher create to help you succeed.
You help decide how you will meet your goals.
Your IR teacher will help you set reading and/or math goals for the semester
What Do I Have to Do?!
Every week, you will work in Reading and/or Math for extended practice to build your skills.
To make sure you are successful in your other classes, each week you will spend time getting help with your other teachers, site paraprofessionals or me!
Every Monday, there will be a discussion question to complete.
Every week there will be a learning activity. It may be for Math or Reading and should take about 30 minutes.
How Will I Be Graded?
It's Pass/Fail! No Letter Grade
So How Do I Pass?
What counts as Contact Time?
You need to 75% of required contact to pass
Weekly Discussions in Schoology will take about 15 minutes to complete. So will your weekly check-in with your teacher.
You will be doing Skillbuilding using Reading Plus and/or ALEKS, depend on your RAMP goal(s). Thirty minutes a day would be average.
You may complete the Weekly Activity on-site or online - each will take about 30 minutes to complete. If its taking longer on your own, reach out! I'll help you get it done..
You will spend 1 hour either in a live class or tutoring with me, your other teachers, or site paraprofessionals, either on-site or online
Contact time is how your final grade is determined. If you complete 75% of your contact time for the semester, you will earn a passing grade for the course.
