The authors and artist, Barbra Dee, Claudia Kalb, and Rachel Platten all agree that cancer is a huge problem, and people treated them differently is almost as bad.
In the book Halfway Normal Norah Levy struggles with going back to school after chemotherapy and battling cancer;some people treated her different and others that didn't know treated her the same as others.
Cancer & Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is the treatment of a disease by using chemical substances.
Cancer is the overgrowth of cells that is uncontrollable in a part of a body.
Children handle chemotherapy worse than adults; "New cancer drugs may have their biggest impact on the littlest patients."(Kalb). Since children have weaker immune systems their bodies take the drugs harder than adults so it takes a huge toll on them. This changes the way kids act when they go to or back to school because of what they've been though with the drugs from chemotherapy.

hoHow the song
How the song relates to cancer?
The song I chose is "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten. The song is about fighting through cancer and surviving; "This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I'm alright song
My power's turned on
Starting right now I'll be strong
I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me"(Platten). This means that even though cancer is very hard take back your life and fight through which is what the character Norah levy did.
The author Barbara Dee stated, "they're both aware of your whole story.' My whole story . About the time i was "out." WITH CANCER. I HAD CANCER, MS. CASTRO. ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC LEUKEMIA." Norah Levy was annoyed with how people treated her in the beginning of the first day. everyone was being nice and caring and Norah knew it was because she had cancer. This was a bigger struggle than the physical pain from going back to school.
