An attempt from the USSR to gain control of the territories controled by the Allies after WW2. The Soviet Union created a blockade from: air, ground and water transportation between their territory and the allies territory.

NATO Treaty Signed
In 1949 the mayor countries in the Western Hemisphere created a treaty to provide military security against the USSR in europe. The countries were: US, Canada, France, UK , Belgium and and other countries.

Communist Control Act
In 1954 senator Joseph McCarthy created a lot of hysteria because he believed that communist spies filled up the government. He believed that this spies wanted to overthrow the government. Because of this the act was made to create rejection to communist.

Corona Satellites Launched
In 1960 the United States launched a secret program in collaboration with the CIA that involved launching 2 satellites to spy on the Soviet Union.

U-2 Aviation Incident
Shortly after the Corona Satellites were shut down a spy plane from the United States was shot down by a Soviet missile. The pilot managed to survive and flee Moscow and return to the US.

Race to the Moon
In 1969, the United States launched Apollo 11, that was the first mission to ever reach the moon. This was important because the US and the USSR were stealing information from each other to see who reached the moon first.
According to a US spy plane, the Cuban government was developing a missile program and the United States didn't like it. The US mobilized its navy and were ready to attack unleast Cuba stoped its program.
In 1989 the wall that separated Germany into 2 parts finally fell. The comunist had loss its control over this territory. This was important because it meant that the USSR was lossing power and control.

In 1990, months after the fall of the Berlin Wall, West and East Germany reunified to become one. Germany became a capitalist country and rejected communism within their country.

Fall of The Soviet Union
In 1991 after all of the spionage and problems that the Cold War caused, the Soviet Union collapsed and was divided into different countries. This meant that the cold war was over.
