Newborn babies don't have kneecaps, they have cartilage that resembles kneecaps. They usually don’t develop kneecaps fully until after six months or so.
They can scream for wants or needs, but newborns can’t really cry. Tears can’t actually be produced until about three weeks. But in some cases, it isn’t unusual for babies to cry their first tears until about four or five months, sometimes a bit more.
