How do your products engage with the audience and how would they be distributed as real media products?
Originally we had made our target audience between teenagers and young adults. We sent our a google forms survey to the sixth form to see the type of music genre and type of music video people usually enjoy to watch. Trap genre was found to be one of the more popular genres and because we had already done a lot of research and planning into this genre we decided to use it. We also found that most people enjoy watching music videos with a narrative as they thought it kept the video more interesting.
Stuart Hall suggests that audiences will react differently to media texts based on their own personal experiences. This is another reason why we chose a teenage audience as they can relate the music video to their real lives as Drugs is mostly an issue in young people's lives. Blumler and Katz suggests that audiences select media products based upon their own individual needs and whether the media pieces can then meet these needs. This can possibly apply to our music video as it can help act as a deterrent for drug taking and may help some viewers quite the use of drug taking. This can also be seen in another more negative way as we present the issue of drugs some people can see it as an escape from their own problems which could promote the use for a few people. This is how I think the video is effective as it can be seen and interpreted in many different ways by the viewer.
We have created our digi pack to help distribute our music video as a CD, although as CDs are becoming less and less popular due to increases in technology we will mainly distribute our music video by posting it on youtube and Vevo. This is were most of our target audience watch music videos and this is how it will become most well known and watched by the public. We will use our website mostly to market our music video to fans of Luna Shadows and people who watch the music video on Youtube and like it will go to Luna Shadows website and watch her other music which will help her grow as a brand. Our music video will also have trailers and be shown before popular films and in the cinema which will help publicise and distribute the music video.
