Hello! My name is Heather Ashley I'm a senior at DECA and I'm 17 years old. I live with 6 other members of my family. However, I'm most close to my brother who slays Snapchat filters and my mom who has always encouraged me to be a better me.
I want to go to Costa Rica because like I said before, I am passionate about human rights and that makes me also passionate about humans. I want to help people as a career, so of course I would love to go to make the world a better place. I want to change people's hearts and share the love I have for them because I truly believe putting that positive energy out in the world can only do good. It's easy to hate but in the words of AHS's Myrtle Snow, "Don't be a hater, dear."
Why I want to go
Basics of Me
Squad means family and family means no one gets left behind
I still don't know what I've done to deserve people this beautiful and supportive. In order of the picture above, my squad is Tre, Tae and Sherry. It may sound cliche but I'm telling you, these are the people who have got me through dark places in my life and I'm so grateful to have them and call them my people.
I don't really mess with sports because I'm not about that life, but I do Mock Trial instead. For those who don't know, Mock Trial is a imitation trial that hold competitions for high school and college Mock Trial teams. I started Mock Trial junior year and I fell in love with it. I am dedicated to my team and honestly I love the pressure Mock Trial puts us under because it makes me more confident. I played an attorney last year and I will play an attorney again this year and it's one of the best experiences of my life.

Above is William, but I don't actually call him William. I call him Bub and he has always given me excuses to complain (He's annoying sometimes) but also to be a good example. I want to show him how to conduct yourself as a compassionate human being.
I will be fortunate enough to eventually graduate from the University of Dayton. I was born poor and I'm the first person in my family to graduate not only college but also high school. Due to these circumstances though I originally could not afford UD (who could?). However, I am positively ecstatic to say that I will enroll in the new UD-Sinclair Academy program. Meaning, I will do the first half of my undergrad at Sinclair and the other half at UD (And will graduate with a UD degree). I will be studying Women and Gender studies along with Education as a double degree. I want to study Women and Gender studies because I think that women are just one of the many groups of people who are still not given their full rights. I paired education with Women and Gender studies because I would like to teach this subject to others because that's is a pipeline to educate people in a way they have not been before. So, hopefully in 5 years, I will be beginning my career and graduated from college.
