The Dash Diet
Dash stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension
What is it?
The Dash Diet is a lifelong approach to healthy eating that's designed to help treat or prevent high blood pressure (hypertension).
anyone can use the diet, but it is more common in elder people.
The DASH diet encourages you to reduce the sodium in your diet and eat a variety of foods rich in nutrients that help lower blood pressure, such as potassium, calcium and magnesium.
What is it used for?
By following the DASH diet, you may be able to reduce your blood pressure by a few points in just two weeks. Over time, your systolic blood pressure could drop by eight to 14 points, which can make a significant difference in your health risks.
Cons of the Dash Diet
- It's not the best diet for weight loss
-there's not really a meal plan that comes with it, you're on your own to meet the calorie requirement from the number of servings of each food group on the outline of the diet
