What is a robot?
A Robot in Use
An automated machine that is smarter than humans. They can do difficult and simples tasks.
The history of robots has its origins in the ancient world. The modern concept began to be developed with the onset of the Industrial Revolution, which allowed the use of complex mechanics, and the subsequent introduction of electricity. This made it possible to power machines with small compact motors.
The First Known Robot Was Created Around 400 BC and Was a Mechanical Bird.
Book Of Robots
The Hero of Alexandria, a Mathematician, Physicist and Engineer (10-70AD) wrote a book titled Automata which is a collection of different devices which could have been used in temples.
The first patents were awarded for the construction of a “printed wire” which came into use after World War 2. The concept was to replace radio tube with something less bulky.
The first “programmable” mechanism, a paint-sprayer, was designed by Willard Pollard and Harold Roselund for the DeVilbiss Company
1954 George Devol invented the first digitally operated and a programmable robot called the Unimate.
Blaise Pascal invented a calculating machine to help his father with taxes. The device was called the Pascaline and about 50 Pascalines were built.
iRobot released the first generation of Roomba robotic vacuum cleaners
The Korean Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), created HUBO, and claims it is the smartest mobile robot in the world. This robot is linked to a computer via a high-speed wireless connection; the computer does all of the thinking for the robot.
In 2017, social robot Sophia was given citizenship of Saudi Arabia – the first robot to be given legal personhood anywhere in the world.
The main difference between robotics and automation is that robots are a piece of equipment that can perform a variety of tasks with programming, while automation is a term that is used for special purpose machines or systems that are designed to perform a specific task.

For example Sophia she is changing and adapting to the society of the human world and where she lives.
What are they
Emerging technologies is technology capable of changing in different ways.
