WHO IS GIDEON
The youngest son of Joash the Abiezrite
Came from a poor family of the Tribe of Manasseh
The Israelites sinned in the sight of the Lord... again. Oppressed by the Midianites for 7 years. Cry to God for help. (JUD 6:1-7)
God sends them a prophet with a message; the Angel of the Lord appears to Gideon. (JUD 6:8-12)
Gideon questions the Angel of the Lord in his "absence" in helping the Israelites. Also asks for 3 signs as proof of his decision for Judge. (JUD 6:13-17)
Gideon asks the Angel of the Lord to wait until he brings an offering. Comes back and places them on a rock; Angel of the Lord touches them and the rock goes up in flames. (JUD 6:18-24)
The Lord requests of Gideon to destroy the temple of Baal. He takes 10 men and his father's 2nd bull by night. Town's people find the temple torn down the next morning. (JUD 6:25-32)
Gideon needs to reassure himself that God is truly with him. He puts sheep's fleece outside and requests 2 signs. (JUD 6:36-40)

Gathers 32'000 men to fight against 135'000 men. God says too many - cut down to 10'000.
Everyone who drinks from the water like a dog drinks, is set apart. They were 300 men.
Gideon and Purah his servant go to the camp of the Midianites; they overhear a dream and its interpretation.
The Lord wanted to reveal his power to the Israelites with fewer men. Otherwise they'd boast.
The 300 men chosen to fight were split into 3 groups. Each carried a trumpet, and an empty jar with a torch inside. They didn't lift a sword
Gideon and his men captured Oreb and Zeeb, the two leaders of the Midianites
THE SWORD OF THE LORD AND OF GIDEON.
People of Ephraim are angry with Gideon because he didn't invite them to help fight the Midianites.
Gideon asks for food for his followers from the people of Succoth. They reject his request. Promises to tear their flesh.
Does the same thing with Penuel and threatens to tear down their tower.
Zebah and Zalmunna (Kings) in Karkor with 15 thousand men; 120 thousand of their men died by the sword.
Gideon follows the Kings of Midian; they escape but eventually he captures them.
Gideon is requested to become a ruler of Israel and his grandchildren also. He refuses saying, the Lord shall rule. Asks for gold instead. They had peace for forty years... Gideon dies.... the cycle repeats.
Gideon goes to Succoth and Pennuel and destroys them, just as he said he would.
