research on the seven propaganda techniques and categories.
1.Name -calling-it is making an idea look like it is a bad one with the aim of making the receivers to reject and refuse the idea without looking at the evidence
2.Glittering generality-unsupported aim that provokes a positive response among receipients without them analysing the matter
3.Transfer-propagandist exports the respect of receivers from one person to the other that he or she wants them to respect
4.Testimonial-a tool of using someone who is normally respected or despised to say that a person or given idea is good or bad
5.Plain folks-technique by which a propagandist tries to persuade people to think that certain views are good because they are for the people
6.Card staking-stacking cards against the thruth by selectively distorting and manipulating facts or arguments inorder to give the best or worst case for an idea
7.Bandwagon-tool of trying to convince receivers to support or reject an idea
1. Name -callling- the advert is written "everytime you smoke your blood gets thick and dirty with toxins".This label persuades people to look at smoking in a bad way and reject the idea of smoking without analysing the evidence if the blood will be thick because they would see the image of the cigarette pouring thick and dark blood and create a picture in their minds as true
2.Plain-folks -the technique is about a persuader who persuades receipients that certain ideas are good for the people. It is also a way of convincing that respected or popular people are also ordinary or common people and therefore have traits like everyone else. The advert shows Bradley Cooper,a hollywood famous, award winning actor enjoying the Haagen Dazs ice cream just like any other person. Therefore people are likely to follow a person who is like them or enjoy similar things
3. Testimonal -a former basketball player,Shaq is generally respected and popular who advertises ice hot for advanced pain as portraying that maybe he used the product to relieve the pain on his injuries after his games. Therefore people are more likely to also use the ice hot rub to relief pain after injuries especially people that play sport.
4. Card stacking -the advert shows the burger king having less fat and calories but a big taste to give the best case for the idea by selectively manipulating facts. This is because it is food therefore there is no guarantee that the percentages are absolute and the manipulation comes with the statement of the burgers having a big taste. They have used facts and figures that stress positive qualities and ignore negative giving only part of the picture
5.Transfer-the advert shows a propagandist transfer whereby the advert claims that the pupil went from a B- to an A+ after attending lessons at tutor.com.Therefore it is respecting the tutor.com lessons and praising it other than tutorials that others have been having before to reject them and join tutor.com
6.Glittering generality- the advert shows a statement which has no proof that the miracle lotion is really going to give one soft skin. The cute girl and the words,'miracle' and 'magical' is a provoking persuasion that will make receivers to buy the product without having analysed more details about the product. Also the girly, pink and blue pictures will also attract young girls into believing that it will definitely work for them
7.Bandwagon-the technique is showing that a lot of people are using the front camera to take selfies which can be done every moment. It gives the audience the idea that everybody is doing it and convinces them to do it aswell.
