What do we mean by social health? The World Health Organisation defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH
The conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age are known as the social determinants of health. Things such as income and income distribution, education, employment and job security, food security, housing and social inclusion all have an impact on the social health of our communities. These social determinants are mostly responsible for health inequities - the unfair and avoidable differences in health status seen within and between communities.
