-16-20 C Shaped Rings
- Posteriorly closed by non-striated trachealis muscle
- 10-12cm length in adults
- 15-20mm diameter in adults
- <1y = <4mm diameter
- Children diameter (mm) = roughly age
- Trachea more deeply rooted and mobile in children
Cricoid cartilage is D-shaped
SUPPLY
Upper 2/3 = Inferior Thyroid Artery Lower 1/3 = Bronchial Artery
Venous = Inferior Thyroid Vein
Nervous = Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve
