In "Titanium" by Sia, "Man Up" by Sims-Schouten, Wendy Edwards, and Simon, and What Every Girl (Except Me) Knows by Nora Raleigh Baskin, the authors believe bullying is a problem that causes depression, suicide and self-hatred, but if oneself sticks up for themselves and others it can increase self-esteem and lower suicide rates.
A study was conducted in December 2016 that concluded that kids who get bullied and don't man up or stick up for themselves are less likely to later on get a good job, because they don't have responsibility and courage or don't hold the right person accountable. The article reads," Firstly, drawing on discursive psychology, we focus on the interactive accomplishments of talk, such as managing facts, blame and accountability.[...] long-term implications of bullying are negated in favour [sic] of a neoliberal [sic] approach towards self-responsibility in the here and now."(Sims-Schouten, Wendy Edwards, and Simon) The article means that later on in life people who get bullied and don't do anything about it will not show the same responsibility as the ones who do more than just take it, they do something.
The novel What Every Girl (except me) Knows is about how Gabby is trying to get by without her mom and trying to be just like every other girl, trying to find her way. It is also about her journey and her great friendships along the way. Throughout the book she makes friends and realizes that she is perfect. Even when being bullied she just sticks up for herself and others.

The song "Titanium" is about how she is being bullied but just ignores them and gets back up. She keeps going and moves on even when they are criticizing her and others; she is sticking up for herself and others. She is "bulletproof".
My research is about a study that was conducted and was about bullies later on in life. It was also about how people who do nothing about being bullied can end up in the same place as those who do bully
