I currently work for Scotland County Schools as an Instructional Facilitator at Carver Middle School.
This is my 8th year in Education. I began my career in Scotland County where I served as a 6th grade ELA/SS teacher for four years. I re-located to Richmond County for 1 1/2 years as a 5th grade ELA/SS teachers. I came back to Scotland County in December 2016.
This is my second Master's degree from UNCP and I am in my first semester of internship. I also have a Master's in Elementary Education and a Bachelors in Elementary Education, both from UNCP.
DRIVEN EMPATHETIC INSIGHTFUL
I am intrinsically motivated by my passion to make a difference in the world.
I thrive on relationships and I value others' perspectives. I am always considerate of all sides of a situation when making a decision.
I "think before I speak". I take time to consider all possible scenarios and look at present & future outcomes.
As an Instructional Facilitator, I have had many opportunities to discuss educational issues but not necessarily controversial issues. I provide continuous professional development for teachers to increase and maximize student success. This can only be done by looking at data and addressing the "elephant in the room." These conversations are very difficult at times due to resistance to change and lack of power to execute.
My goal for this course is to learn how to research educational issues in-depth and consider all sides of the issues. I am very interested in educational politics and I think this course will help me determine if I want to move into that type of arena in the near future or not.
