The Yalta Conference Occurs. Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin meet to discuss Germany's fate post war. Germany is partitioned into multiple parts, the Russian side being Communist and the rest Democratic.
The Truman Doctrine stated that the US would aid any country facing a communist takeover. This created a promise that the US would have to keep in future years.
The Marshall Plan was a program offering economic aid to all European countries from the US, but was rejected by Stalin because it opposed Communist ideology. This meant that Eastern European countries did not receive aid and there became a clear issue between the two nations.
