A HISTORIC EVENT
On a Thursday night, May of 1971, the newly appointed mayor of Curitiba decided to make the city more sustainable by turning the most traffic jammed street into a local, walking shopping mall. He told his project manager to do it and he said it would take 6 months but he wanted it done by tomorrow so that the business owners there can not do anything to stop it. They agreed on 72 hours and that caused the entire city to back up the sustainability idea brought in by the mayor.
In conclusion, Curitiba is a beautiful place to live with many different ways to be sustainable. There are more sustainable cities in the world but at least Curitiba is trying to be a green city unlike most of the cities in the world.
