FOR CHARITY - FUNDRAISING and PROFIT
Our mission is to bring together different courses within the college, allow them to socialise, make new friends and compete in a football tournament for fun. Not only this but we wish to raise awareness about Sport Relief and money to give to this specific charity.
Organising a Sports EVent
Sport Relief is the charity we have chosen as a group to give our money in which we have raised too. They are a very famous charity who use 50% of their donations to help those suffering here in the UK and the other 50% to help those suffering in countries across the globe such as Africa to help provide water and food to supply families less fortunate. Over the years they have also provided books for education and vaccinations to prevent the world’s poorest people catching diseases.
As a group we have chosen Sport Relief as our charity because we feel as though they do a lot for the world, the money that has been donated to them has been used wisely and helped millions of people whether that be in the UK or the world’s poorest countries. The money that we raise for this charity will come from the entry fee and the snacks we are providing. From research and previous experience, I know that most events raise their money through refreshments and entry fee, so I have used this knowledge and applied it to my own event. Therefore each student will have to pay a minimum of £1 to take part and pay a small fee for the food and drink in which we will be providing. We will make it clear that it is for charity and extra money would be a huge help, not just to us but for Sport Relief. We are hoping to make over £100 pound, although this doesn’t seem like a lot, it is only a small event so if we aim to reach £1000 for instance, it would not be possible.
We are also thinking about hosting different games within the event to keep those people who have been kicked out or aren’t playing their match at that precise moment such as a cross bar challenge, in order for students to take part, there will also be an entry fee of around 50p, this is so that we can raise more money in order to give to our chosen charity.
Not only are we holding this event to raise money for charity, but we also want to bring people together and educate them all. Recently, students are engrossed in their mobile phones and struggle to socialise face to face, therefore by doing this event, it gives them the opportunity to speak to one another and make friends. Secondly, a football tournament will help them all become active and take part in physical activity which is important in an everyday life, although some students do not do this, so by introducing this opens up a new chance for them to become fitter, whilst having fun. During the tournament we will also be teaching different techniques, tactics and the rules within football so that all of the participants come away knowing a lot more about football than they did before they started, some may already know this information because of previous experience but there will be some who do not.
