In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My music video uses different codes and conventions of a pop music video. For example a main feature is the use of close ups to show the actors emotions. This allows the audience to connect with the actor and the lyrics because the actors emotions reflect the lyrics. The Mise En Scene is what you would stereotypically use in a pop video as the woman is wearing fashionable clothing of the time and the man is wearing simple clothing. This also allows the audience to connect with the actors because they look like them and they could see themselves in their shoes.
Within my music video, I decided to use the lyrics to my advantage. I decided to put the footage in line with the music, therefore when lyrics such as 'Colour crimson in my eye' are sung, a shot with the colour crimson in the eye is shown. I did this to emphasis the lyrics and so that the audience would think about the meaning behind them and the film.

My video has also developed some codes and conventions through the use of linking lyrics and shots together. This allows the lyrics to be emphasised because the lyrics are being reflected visually again, this allows the audience to connect with the lyrics.
My music video slightly challenges the codes and conventions of a pop video as they tend to have the artist singing in them. Whereas my video tells a storyline of the couple falling out and the man becoming an alcoholic. The video also challenges the codes and conventions through the use of the storyline. This is because the storyline starts off as a stereotypical pop video with a love story between a couple, however stereotypically they are end well and the couple is in love and happy however, my video does not end like that. My video ends with the couple being separated and the man being unhappy.
