MUSICAL SAW

What you need to play it:
-Either a specially made music saw ($50-$600) or just an average hand saw (very cheap).
-Either a music saw bow or a violin bow.
The instrument is played by holding the saw between your legs and rubbing the bow against one side of the saw. The image above shows an example of someone playing it. The middle of the saw is called the "sweet spot" and that is the part that creates the nice noise. You can change the tone by bending the saw. When you bend the saw the sweet spot moves up and down. The top of the blade is higher pitched and, respectively, the bottom is lower pitched. The instrument was thought to arise from somewhere in the Appalachian Mountains, but know one is sure exactly where it came from. A average saw can play around two octaves.
