This is a timeline of when different weapons were introduced into World War 1.
Weapons that were first used in the start of the war were rifles, machine guns adn the flamethrower. Tactics were basic since the war had just started and didn't know what they were getting into.
Start of WW1
Start of 1915
End of 1914
The hand grenade, the automatic rifle, impact grenade and the concussion grenade were introduced for the soldiers. Another shocking invention that changed warfare forever were the invention of gases. The Chlorine Gas was used to be thrown into the enemies trenches and the gas would fill their lungs up with water.
Improved weapons were invented through the year such as sniper rifles, tanks and the light machine gun. Tanks were a major invention and allowed troops to be able to travel through places of warfare with armour protection.
New models of the LMG were created and so were more advanced and effective grenades. Light machine guns were used strategically by being a lighter version so it could be easily moved when needed to.
End of 1915
The heavy Mortar and the air-cooled aircraft machine guns were both introduced and effective immediately. Tactics were to use the mortars big stone balls high and bomb short distance trenches or trying to knock the barbed wire down.
Start of 1916
The Revolver handgun, Mustard gas and the Fragmentation Hand Grenade were three weapons that were used commonly. Tactics included bombing the trenches with the mustard gas bombs to force the soldiers in the trenches to breath in the dangerous gas that would lead to major lung injury or death.
Start of 1917
Weapons and artillery were getting low and all weapons that were introduced earlier were still getting used effectively
End of 1917
END OF WAR
Communication devices were invented as well as automatic reifle guns.
