FRANK & JOAN RITTIMAN
I appreciate my mother because I know that we will always be there for each other. She's a remarkable single mother who is so much more than just a single mom. She's selfless, loving, strong physically and mentally. The true definition of filling in both parents' shoes.
I appreciate my Grandma because she always finds the brighter side of things. Not to mention she's just overall pretty fabulous. I appreciate my Grandpa because he stood in as a father figure, teaching me how to ride a bike and swim.
TYLER SORENSON & SAM PYNE
My Brother & His Girlfriend
I appreciate Sam and Tyler because they've guided me through approaching college. I can always rely on them for practical advice. Sam is going to school for Audiology at Pacific University, and Tyler is an online Foothill Student while working from home.
I appreciate Nathan because we've grown as individuals together while in a relationship. Having been happily together for three and a half years now, I know to cherish both the happy and sad times. I couldn't have asked for a more accepting and kind significant other.
ANNIE BAKER BAUER
My Best Friend
I appreciate Annie because she is the definition of the most beautiful brutal ray of sunshine. Her smile is contagious and caring, but she is absolutely willing to be brutally honest with you about anything. I value a friend who values honesty above all.
My Best Friend
I appreciate Jamie because she is so vibrant and talented. She has dreams to be in musical theatre, I'm inspired by her and her undying persistence. She also somehow finds ways to make me come down from my constant state of stress, and I can't thank her enough.
My Elementary School
My High School
I was a true "9-year survivor" at my K-8 elementary school. I felt that Poet impacted who I am because I learned so many valuable life lessons during my time there. I had good friends, bad friends, good grades, bad grades, and amazing teachers.
In all honesty, I felt that my high school experience was lackluster, I'm the one to blame. I wish I had gotten more involved with more than just academia. I take this experience as a lesson to put myself out into the world because nothing happens until I make it happen.
My Community College
I could write pages about my experience at Foothill, but overall I can say it has left me constantly stressed, but always allowing me to push myself to grow and pursue things I thought I couldn't before. I've learned more in the last year than in my entire lifetime.
Within the last year, I decided that Transferring to a UC would broaden my options for the future. I'm investing my time now so I won't have to later. I'm so glad I have started my education at a community college.
My First Step Into the World
Tracy is where I was born and raised. Everyone (including myself) in Tracy seems to hate on the city we live in. Although, more often than not, I find myself missing it. Sure it may smell like cows, and have no businesses, but it has all of my memories.
I consider my high school graduation to be my first true step into the real world. At the time I didn't have a job, and I didn't have school. I found myself restless, looking for growth. I craved structure and learning because school is where I thrive.
In August of 2015 on the first day of my Junior year of high school in our speech and debate class, a boy approached me and said "Tamara right?" and I replied "Hey! You said my name right!" and the rest was history.
Believe me, there are some stories with failed attempts with buying a car on craigslist but ultimately I ended up with my reliable, lovely little Honda. After one year of driving out on my own, I finally felt like I had the freedom I craved for years.
My First Taste of Travel
Since Tyler and Sam live in Portland, Nathan and I took advantage of the offer to visit them during the Summer. It was my first time on a plane! I didn't find it scary at all. I loved every second!
My Birthday is 9/9/99! Isn't that wild? My mom got lucky I guess!
I'm definitely the mom friend :)
As a child, both of my elbows were dislocated. (Don't Worry I'm okay!)
SCIENCE AND BIOLOGY
I've gained over 160 hours at the STEM Center during the Winter Quarter, and have created meaningful relationships with some of the tutors. Some days I'm at school from 8:00am - 10:30pm because I love the rewarding feeling of mastering a concept.
Jeff Shinske is an amazing Biology instructor. He is part of the reason why I decided to pursue Biology instead of Radiology. He is so passionate about academia, improving the health field. He sparked my interest in Biology, and I hope to one day be half as great as him.
I work at the front desk of the Counseling Department at Foothill through the work-study program. With the multitude of diversity I encounter daily, this job has taught me valuable customer service skills, as well as strengthen my communication skills.
For as long as I can remember I've been involved in different outdoor activities. Whether it be camping, paddle boarding, skiing, kayaking, among other things, I always have a giant grin on my face.
MUSIC AND CONCERTS
I've categorized each phase of my life into music playlist genres. As a child I grew up listening to classic rock, then as a pre-teen, I ventured into pop punk, and ultimately have landed on indie-pop.
My Brain Games
Escape rooms have quickly become an addition that Nathan and I share. Within the last two years, we've managed to complete 14 escape rooms. This addiction had grown to the extent that Nathan actually worked at an Escape Room for some time! PANIQ ROOM in San Jose is by far the best!
