During the preliminary task i learned several different shots including; long shots, shot-reverse-shot, over the shoulder shot match on action and 180 degree rule. Throughout this task i also learned that it is important to take plenty of shots to ensure the continuity is perfect in the final piece.
The preliminary task has helped me to create my final product as I learnt the basis of my practical skills through creating a short piece of film. As explained above I learnt different types of shots and how to use the editing software that i used for my final piece. Sian and Sarah mainly filmed the majority of the footage, however when it was my turn to film all of the hand held shots I made sure that I didn't intentionally shake the camera as it moves naturally with you as you run or walk. However by editing my preliminary task it helped me get to grips with the editing software. Before starting this project I had never edited a video so by doing this starter task it helped me learn the basics. When it came to editing our film we all had our own turn when editing as we worked together. At first it was difficult to remember where everything was on the program but eventually I got the grasp of it. Finally the preliminary task allowed my group to establish who would fit what role when filming our final media product. For example we decided that Sian would be the best person to direct our piece.
