The target spheres are placed around the object being scanned to assist with the registration, or stitching together of the many scans. Ideally the scanner needs to be able to see at least three of these spheres during each scan. The target spheres cannot be moved for the duration of the entire scanning process; it’s crucial to have good placement on these!
The FARO Focus3D x330 Laser Scanner is one of the tools used by the Autodesk Federal team. This device scans objects at up to one million points per second. The data, or point clouds, from this scanner can be imported into Revit, AutoCAD, Infraworks, and other Autodesk software to create 3D models.
