The Zodiac Killer

December 20, 1968
David Faraday and Betty Lou Jensen were shot and killed in Vallejo, California.
July 4, 1969
Michael Mageau and Darlene Ferrin were shot only few minutes away from the location of the first attack. Mageau survived and was able to give a description of the killer.
A few weeks later
The San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Examiner, and the Vallejo Times all received identical letters from someone claiming to be the killer.
September 27, 1969
Bryan Hartnell and Cecelia Shepard were stabbed by a man in an executioner-style hood with a Zodiac symbol on his chest in Napa, California. Hartness survived and was able to give a description of the killer to police.
October 11, 1969
Taxi driver paul Stine was shot and killed by his passenger in San Francisco, California. Several eyewitnesses were able to create a composite sketch of the killer.

April 20, 1970
A letter sent to the San Francisco Chronicle received a letter that included a cipher that contained the Zodiac's name.
The Zodiac stopped sending letters.
The Zodiac sent his last letter where he claimed to have killed 37 people. he wrote:
" me - 37
SFPD - 0 "
The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) was able to extract a partial genetic profile from a stamp from a Zodiac letter. Sadly, the DNA was too small to be able to fully identify a suspect.
