Problems in the U.S. (note that the environment isn't up there.)
"In honor of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day a Climate Rally and Concert was held on the National Mall in Washington, D.C."- HISTORY
This was taken on the Californian coastline.
In 2015, there was a terrible oil spill that had spilled over 142,800 gallons into the coastline of the U.S. This would have been a great way to show how we are not doing a very good job of taking care of our planet. We could try and use less oil so that there is not as much oil to spill.
Comparison between 2005 vs 2019 air in Beijing, China
Since the oil problem has started to become taken care of, we should start focusing on smog/smoke problems. Smog is a very big problem especially in China because they produce so much of it. We need to stop burning so much fossil fuels and use more renewable energy resources such as solar or wind power.
This was taken in China during a daily rush hour on one of their busy streets.
Even though it isn't a environment problem, it affects the environment. Overpopulation is a very big problem and always has been. Although China has already made steps to help out this cause by the 1 child policy, they still dominate the world with their population numbers. We could enforce the rule more because even though it is a rule, people don't really care that much about it.
This was taken at a landfill somewhere in America.
Waste production is one of the most known environmental problems in the U.S. We are suffering from a crisis dealing with our trash/ recycling. China has completely disagreed to taking anymore of our waste that we produce, leaving us with millions of pounds of trash that we don't know what to do with. We could try and produce more things that contain less trash such as less packaged stuff. This can include going to farmers markets or even bringing your own reusable bags to shop with.
Taken during a protest to stop the use of carbon in the U.S.
Now that most of the big problems are solved it is time for us to take a stand for our environment. We could do more protests to help our committee do something about it. Even though they have done it in the past, it sometimes has not been as successful and has sometimes led to violence. I think that we should protest in a way that everyone is safe and benefits from it.
This would be the decade where more people celebrate Earth day and everyone comes together to do it. It is our planet and we need to protect it from everything harmful.
