With a few years experience of editing videos on final cut pro i already had basic skills from the software. This year I gained new skills and learnt to crop and transform shots. This was essential for my video as I had the letterbox theme, injection of colour filters and flashes throughout my work that without the learning new skills I would not have been able to achieve. I also learnt to cut music effectively so that my audience would not be able to notice a jump or cut in the song. I also learnt to make colour filters though using images and adjusting the opacity to look effective and professional. Another skills i learnt on the software was to copy and pasta effects from existing clips, this helped me as it saved me time from going through each individual shot and applying effects.
By Producing a performance based pop music video I also learnt how to lip-sync effectively, this was something I had never attempted before and felt I executed well. This was challenging to match my actors movement exactly in time with the song but by sowing don the song and using the 'M' key to mark the footage I was able to lip-sync quickly and confidently.
This year by using Final Cut-Pro I also learnt the short cuts on the keyboard for certain functions on the software. For example, the 'B' key to quickly access the blade function and cut through a shot. Also, I learnt how to undo shots through using the keyboard only. This was useful as I could quickly make alterations to clips and if I didn't like what I did or wanted to compare what I had before I could quickly undo what I had done.
