When the men were away at war there were job openings that needed to be filled. Women took men's jobs in shops, offices, and factories. The most important roles they took were positions in war. The women supported the war by becoming war nurses and aids yet, others took on dangerous jobs such as being spies and smugglers. This was essential to win the war so women could find ways to smuggle supplies, ammunition, medicine, and information. They did this by flirting with male soldiers or by throwing parties.
