TIER 3 ADAPTATIONS
*Additional adaptations may be listed in individual school based learning plans.
Additional Adaptations from School Based Learning Plans:
Along with Tier 2 small group instruction with 1-5 students, Tier 3 students should receive additional direct instruction at their level.
Small group instruction of 1-3 Students
Tier 3 intervention groups should be held daily for 45-120 minutes and last 20+ weeks until progress is made.
Tier 3 Interventions should focus on material at the student's 'Zone of Proximal Development" and focus on review and practice.
Working on Remedial Material
Student Support teachers, or specialization teachers should conduct the Tier 3 Interventions.
Tier 3 students should be progress monitored for growth on a weekly basis to check for learning.
Tier 3 students should be provided longer wait times, higher frequency of questioning, and direct corrections in the case of errors, along with closely monitored guided practice.
PATTERNS TOPIC SPECIFIC INTERVENTIONS
Teach students pattern vocabulary, such as: attribute, repeat, element, core, etc.
Teach students simplified pattern sequences.
Provide the opportunity for students to explore patterns in real world settings.
Teach students prerequisite skills such as matching, sorting, colours and shapes and provide colour and shape anchor charts.
