The career i have chosen is anesthesiologist. This is apart of the human services health science category. The reason i chose this career because i love to help people and the human body and surgery intrigues me very much.
In this career a person is typically in a surgery room or pre surgery room with a patient giving the patient going into surgery a dose of anesthesia so they don't feel anything during the surgery.
The median annual income for anesthesiologists in 2018 is $369,346 with the median hourly rate of $178. Half of all anesthesiologists earned more than this, while half earned less. However, salaries for this specialty were considerably higher than those for most other medical doctors. It goes by hourly wage and they are provided bonuses when working in specific areas.
After completing a four year bachelor's degree, students then take four years of graduate education leading to a degree in medicine (M.D.) or osteopathy (D.O.). After receiving a medical degree, students must complete four more years in an anesthesiology residency.
The type of training you need for anesthesiology is to go through basically 12 years of school and the last 4 being in a anesthesiologist residency.
Because an anesthesiologist is a medical doctor, they must complete all of the education and training required of all physicians.
Working Conditions. Anesthesiologists work in hospitals, clinics and pain treatment centers. In the operating room, anesthesiologists work as part of a team which includes nurses and surgeons. Anesthesiologists who work in hospitals may have to work long hours, sometimes up to 65 hours a week. This is indoors and since they work before surgery it is slow space to get the dosages correct but then it is a rush to get to the next surgery.
Job Growth Overview. While the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) does not track employment trends for medical specialties like anesthesiology, employment for surgeons and physicians is expected to trend upward by approximately 18% from 2012 to 2022. There is a good chance this job will be open because of how many surgeries happen a year and even in a month.
Teaching and research provide other employment options. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that there were about 29,220 employed anesthesiologists as of May 2015. The BLS expected employment of anesthesiologists to grow 21% from 2014-2024. Due to this rate there may not be many openings for this specific career later on in the future.
There's not really"moving" up in anesthesiology. you're pretty much doing the same job everywhere you go. Some places you'll get more money for doing this job but only in specific areas.
Job's related t anesthesiologist are Surgeons. Veterinarians. Practitioners. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Hospitalists. Podiatrists. All of theses jobs are related to anesthesiologist in someway shape or form.
