Prevalence of Abuse
The prevalence of different types of abuse in a domestic situation in the last 6 months. Nonmarried status, food insecurity, childhood abuse, depression symptomology, and posttraumatic stress disorder were significantly associated with multiple types of violence.
Young women, low income women, and some groups of minorities are at a higher risk of domestic violence. Women from the ages of 20-24 are at a much higher risk of rape than any other group of people. One in five college women will be raped and only 5% of these rapes will be reported to the police.
