Brian a 13 year boy is going to his dad's house with a private plane, when the pilot has a heart attack. Brian has to crash land the plane in the Canadian wilderness. There he has to fight for survival and see him turn to violence and death to survive the situation he is in.

A group of young boys crash land onto
a tropical and isolated island. However, no adults
survive the crash to help the boys. They rely on
savegeness, evil, and violence when stranded on the
island with no food served to them.
Thesis: In the subtext of our novel Hatchet's plot, by Gary Paulsen addresses real-world issues including divorce and being alone. He presents sub-textual commentary on each issue; he believes this should be prevented about divorce and how kids have to suffer because the parents are not happy. Being alone is another main conflict in the book and how everyone needs someone else to balance out life.
In these three articles/books they have different stories ,but the same controversies. For example in the book Hatchet it says," It will take more courage than he knew he had to survive," which shows that it takes alot to survive in the wilderness. In the biography about George Donner and the novel Lord of the Flies it has the same controversy. In Lord of the Flies the book is mainly about surviving in the wilderness as it says in the summary. The biography of George Donner states that he struggled fighting for his life out in the wilderness. Overall all of these novels/biography all state that one of the main controversies is fighting for their lives in mother nature's hands.
In all three of the book's they all show how they are stranded in, Hatchet it's just a boy out there he is all alone with no one to contact or talk to. But In The Lord of Flies it's a group of boys they have each other to keep company but still no one to talk to. Lastly, in The Biography of George Donner he was with a very large group that went on a walking trip and got hit by a huge snow storm while they still had each other they starved and became cannibals. So all of these show how they were all stranded in places.
