CHILD ABUSE: THE EFFECTS
The article explains some of the effects of child
abuse; "The Children's Bureau reports that victims

will treat their children the way they were treated
and do bad things to the world. Also it can cause

The underreporting of abuse is a huge and ongoing problem. Even people who actually know about a child who is being abused in another family will reluctantly not report the situation. Now that's just bad!

CHILD ABUSE: EARLY STUDIES
There was a paper written in 1962 titled The Battered Child Syndrome by pediatrician C. Henry Kempe that "examined evidence of unexplained head injuries and repeated bone fractures in children, which led to a broad range of studies of child abuse in the United States" (Child Abuse). Dr. Kempe also established the Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect, an institute dedicated to researching and studying abuse.
