Haumea was named after the Hawaiian god of fertilityand childbirth. The moons of Haumea are said to have split off of Haumea, deeming Haumea's lore.
How did it get its name?
Haumea is a dwarf-planet located in the Kuiper Belt. It was discovered on December 28, 2004. We don't know much of about the planet. The discovery of the planet is a debate. Either Micheal E. Brown discovered it or Jose Luis Ortiz Morneo. It was simply disovered by telescopes.
Haumea has two moons, Namaka and Hi'iaka, but Haumea has no rings.
Haumea is 43.1 AU from the sun, which is 6.477 billion km. Thats pretty far away! Haumea's days are only 3.9 hours, but its years are 285 Earth years. It takes Haumea 104,096.25 days to orbit the sun.
Haumea is 1,960 - 1,518 km at its equilateral diameter.
Haumea has no atmosphere, we believe. Haumea has an icy-rocky surface. There is an unknown big red spot on Haumea. We are not sure if it contains life. Haumea is very dark and gray.
EVEN MORE FACTS!!!!
Haumea is a very cool planet, here are some little known facts. if you were 100 pounds on Earth, you would be approximately 3 pounds on Haumea. Haumea is an ellipse due to its extremely fast rotation. Haumea is also a very dense dwarf planet due to its rotation.
