Since 2010, the majority of the students at Jackson Elementary School are Hispanic students and several small mixtures of Black, White, Asian, American Indian and African American. Year by year, the number of Hispanic, White and American Indian students are reducing, on the contrary, Asian students are increasing. I believe that librarians should change multicultural materials according to different students' needs.
The graph shows the percentage of students who are English Language Learners at Jackson Elementary School. From 2010, students joining ELL are keeping going down.
As a future librarian, I would like to talk with academic advisors about why more and more students give up ELL class. If the reason is because of students’ interest changes, I will reduce to buy books related to English language. If not, I will keep buying English books but more careful about selected books.
